"The Basil Pasta Bar is an affordable, authentic Italian cuisine restaurant. It offers a build-your-own-pasta option for $9.95. You start by picking your pasta, sauce, protein or veggies, then you can add an extra (what they call a “garnish”) for $1 to $1.45."
"Everytime we have to search for Kissa Tanto’s purple neon sign among all the stores on Pender St. in Chinatown, we like to pretend we’re the only ones that knows about it, even though it’s actually one of the hardest reservations to get in the city. Everything on their Japanese-Italian menu is amazing, but the My Private Tokyo cocktail, octopus salad, and whole fried fish are some of our favorites. The space feels like a jazz club with all the pink leather booths and vintage light fixtures, and you can’t help but feel like Don Draper is going to show up and say something like, “Happiness is the smell of a new car.” Make a reservation here a month ahead, or cross your fingers and go when they open to try and get one of the tables they reserve for walk-ins."
"Nestled in a quaint historic building in Chinatown with a chic dining space inspired by 1960s Tokyo jazz café, Kissa Tanto is a stylish restaurant that serves Italian-Japanese cuisine and classic cocktails in a relaxed, laid-back setting. Set on the second floor of the building with lovely views over Chinatown, the restaurant presents a menu of delicious cuisine that highlights the delicate flavors of Japan and the hearty warmth of Italian fare that come together to create a unique culinary fusion. Think crisp, exotic salads, elegant Crudo and cruda, playful pasta, and rich, tender meats, accompanied by tiny glasses of cold or hot sake, chilled glasses of beer, tall colorful cocktails, and fine wines."
"Same ownership as Bao Bei, but with a little bit more refined menu that combines Italian and Japanese.
