"Forget happy hours; at this long-established Halifax institution, two words rule the dance floor: Power Hour. You can order select beers for $2.50 every Wednesday and Thursday from 9 pm to 10 pm, but the real business goes down on Saturdays from 4:30 pm until 5:30 pm. The tiny stage in the corner of the room is often packed with dancers, as is each floor of the pub, which is located next to the beautiful Granville Street outdoor mall."
"This is Halifax’s oldest bar and one of the oldest bars in Canada. Things have changed since 1749 of course, but their main idea of serving great local food and drink to anyone who walks through their door hasn’t changed at all. Their menu is classic bar fare with a Halifax twist (you’ll find deep fried pepperoni and donair sticks there), and they have a wide array of Atlantic Canadian alcohols available."
"Visit the Museum of Natural History with the kids and tour the many Galleries such as Archeology, Aquatic life, Geology, mammals and more. The Museum has lots of interesting things to see, especially the forest exhibit with Gus the Tortoise, who is 94 years old. There is a small gift shop and an area in the basement level to relax and eat any snacks you might take with you."
"Halifax’s Museum of Natural History is an institution that depicts the regional geological past and present, through a variety of static and interactive exhibits. Along with rotating exhibitions that feature huge dinosaurs, this museum has galleries that display archaeology, geology, mammals, birds, marine life, ethnology and botany."
"The Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History has been open, in one form or another, since 1868. Known for its collection of animal specimens, both living and preserved, it’s a great and inexpensive indoor rainy day activity in Halifax."
"Scott Manor House is a Provincial and Municipal Heritage Property located at 15 Fort Sackville Road in Bedford. Built in the 1700″s, it is the only full two and a half storey, gambler-roofed colonial structure in Nova Scotia. The third floor attic”s hand-hewn floorboards and handmade nails are still intact."
"Victor and Sybil Fineberg have created a welcoming, laid-back eatery that rivals any traditional deli you’d find in New York. The all-day breakfast menu means you can treat yourself at brunch to Victor’s Big Breakfast, an assembly of three eggs, smoked meat, corned beef, salami with challah or rye toast, potato latke or hash browns for $10.99. Suggestion: you can also fashion a tasty brunch from the side options, which include lox schmear, latkes, bagels, challah and grilled salami."
"A post shared by Polka Dot Pops (@polkadoticepops) on May 15, 2018 at 5:30am PDT. Polka Dot Ice Pops hit the streets in June 2016, serving refreshingly healthy homemade popsicles from her cute “popcycle”. Last year’s flavours included Sweet with Heat Peach, mango-habanero and ginger-blueberry-kombucha."
