Our favorite authentically local restaurants in Vancouver
"Fresh flavours, bold colours, and stunning plating tend to be the trend here, and looking at the photos we can confirm the seafood is indeed as fresh as it looks. One of Vancouver’s best spot for sushi, Minami boasts incredible oshi sushi as well. Address: 1118 Mainland Street, VancouverNeighbourhood: Yaletown Phone: 604-685-8080Facebook | Twitter | Instagram"
"If you’re looking to get your aburi fix, Miku’s sister restaurant has also got you covered. Minami combines Japanese and West Coast cuisine in a comfortable, intimate atmosphere. At Minami, its Aburi sushi is made to be paired with their seafood dishes and your choice of sake, wine, or specialty cocktail."
"A post shared by Anh and Chi (@anhandchi) on Jun 29, 2018 at 7:26pm PDT. One of Vancouver’s best Vietnamese restaurants, Anh and Chi, located at 3388 Main Street, has a menu chock full of pho, rolls, and grilled skewers for lunch and dinner. This spot also happens to have one of the nicest restaurant bathrooms in the city."
"You'll find warm and solicitous service at this delightful contemporary Vietnamese restaurant whose authentic, perfectly prepared dishes are a must for local foodies. Not sure what to order?. Check out the menu's..."
"We’re big fans of this amazing Vietnamese spot on Main Street. And they have a great patio complete with space heaters. So you can enjoy a great patio and a delicious bowl of warm pho."
"Residing at the heart of downtown Vancouver’s financial district, the Heritage Asian Eatery is actually a counter-service restaurant. They serve the delicious flavours brought straightaway from the Far-East, it is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Vancouver. Prepared with local ingredients and traditional techniques, getting a taste of these delicious delicacies is indeed blissful."
"Heritage Asian Chorizo Sausage and Shiitake Mushrooms Baos (Hanna McLean/Daily Hive). Chef Felix Zhou’s new Asian-inspired breakfast and lunch counter-service restaurant is open in Vancouver’s Financial District, and his second Mount Pleasant spot should be opening soon. Grab a bao and an order of this spot’s signature wings and see what all the fuss is about."
"Co-founder and Chef Felix Zhou originally hails from southwest China sets the tone at this hip “fast-casual” restaurant, where Edison bulbs hang over a long communal wooden table and diner queue up for counter service."
"Drawing inspiration from the bounty of the Pacific Northwest and seamlessly blending that with French techniques and Asian influences, Pidgin’s cuisine unerringly reflects the blurring of the line between East and West in Vancouver. Although perfect for bar snacks — the gochujang chicken wings are the best in the city — and genuinely thrilling for the creative cocktails with ingredients such as toasted rice rum and gunpowder tea gomme, Pidgin’s prix fixe is an exceptional value with eight mini courses of pure inventive delight for 69 Canadian dollars per person. Whisky and sake fans will love the selection, and the wine list offers global gems too."
"Gastown's Pidgin has launched its new program for premium packaged meals called Carrier Pidgin. The restaurant says its goal is to take all the difficulty out of creating a complex multi-course meal. You simply have to finish and season a few items to have a restaurant-quality meal at home to enjoy."
"Everything on our menu is gluten-friendly and over 90% is vegan-friendly. We recommend the Lemongrass Chicken Box, Coconut Curry Tofu Box, and Chili Lime Shrimp Box."
"A post shared by Ronnie Dean Harris (@ostwelve) on Feb 27, 2018 at 3:29pm PST. Laksa King could potentially take a hot seat among Vancouver’s more unique eats. A delicious cousin to Pho, you have your choice of noodle served with prawn, fish ball, tofu, egg and chicken, but in a rich and spicy coconut curry broth."
"The lowdown: Yuwa inhabits the same West Side location that previously housed city-favourite Zest, and is already an award-winner in its own right. Opened two years ago by classically-trained chef Masahiro Omori and sake sommelier Iori Kataoka, Yuwa takes a modern approach to the kaiseiki style of dining (traditionally, a multi-course meal). Don’t miss out on: Yuwa’s umami-rich shoya dashi mirin stock, which forms the base of many dishes, such as the hearty Chicken Tsumire-ni—chicken thigh meatballs with shimeji and oyster mushrooms."
"Creative and contemporary, Yuwa serves modern Japanese fare in a sophisticated atmosphere (think white tablecloths and a multi-award-winning wine list). From a starter of snapper carpaccio in a lemon-soy sauce to their signature B.C. albacore tuna and green onion roll drizzled with a spicy miso sauce, to the mango-and-salmon Yellow Magic roll and sweet corn ice cream for dessert, it’s clear Yuwa prepares its dishes with delicacy and imagination."
"And, then there’s Yuwa, the award-winning spot that brings you a lush and stunning patio-dining experience in a style all their own. With its deep green foliage and bright pops of red umbrellas, everything about this eatery is cheerful and perfect for a pick-me-up meal. Enjoy a light and crispy Tempura with a sweet dashi broth and a savory matcha salt."
"Try the Vegan Pho, Sate noodle soups, and Vegan bun bo hue noodle soup. Online ordering is available on DoorDash."
"It’s not exactly overlooked, but we tend to forget the full scope of what’s offered at QE Park. The locals love it for the tennis and basketball courts, the dog park, the lawn bowling, the disk golf course and the Pitch and Putt, while tourists come to snap views of the city skyline, even if the vegetation is starting to crowd the shot. Stroll the quarry gardens and cross your fingers that the underappreciated Bloedel Conservatory will soon reopen so you can enhance your summer photo album with pics of exotic macaws and finches amid New Zealand tea trees and flamingo lilies."
"Situated in the heart of Vancouver, Queen Elizabeth Park is also the highest point in the city, boasting spectacular views of the downtown skyline. It's one of the best parks in Vancouver for gardens, and the free quarry gardens are in bloom virtually year-round and are truly spectacular. The park is also home to the "dancing fountains" (at its top), the Queen Elizabeth Pitch & Putt, and lots of open, green spaces for playing ball or just laying on the soft grass."
"The third sight-seeing location was Lighthouse Park along the coast and displayed Vancouver city in the distance. At last, our final, spur of the moment location was a view of BC Place (Vancouver’s Whitecap’s Stadium). We walked around Vancouver and ended up overlooking a gorgeous nighttime view of the cityscape. Most of Day 2 was spent with our friends, taking photos and playing tourist throughout Vancouver."
"Just because Vancouver is surrounded by some of the world’s most stunning natural beauty doesn’t mean you should come to expect nothing beautiful indoors too. The city’s Art Gallery, located in downtown Vancouver, is home to over 10,000 art pieces, ranging from Canadian and British paintings to the photographic works of artists like Ansel Adams and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Guided tours are always available, but for something both interactive and slightly different, try to make it for a FUSE event, where DJ’s and artists perform throughout the galleries from 8 pm to 1 am."
"Scope out the cool architecture (such as that of the Vancouver Public Library), check out the Vancouver Art Gallery or window shop on Robson Street (Vancouver’s version of Rodeo Drive). End your walk at Trees Organic Coffee on the edge of Gastown. It’s a great place to people watch, especially because it’s conveniently located next to an Instagrammable pink street. Not only do you get to watch people take cheesy photos, but you can take some of your own as well."

"Vancouver's best museum is studded with spectacular First Nations totem poles and breathtaking carvings – but it's also teeming with artifacts from cultures around the world, from Polynesian instruments to Cantonese opera costumes. Take one of the free daily tours (check ahead for times) for some context, but give yourself at least a couple of hours to explore on your own. It's easy to immerse yourself here. "
"Museum of Anthropology at UBC: An informative museum highlighting The First Nations of Canada. Kitsilano Beach: An excellent place to relax with scenic views of Vancouver. You can also swim here when the weather is warm."
"Go to the Museum of Anthropology to find out about the Northwest Coast First Nations people Try some candied salmon - locally caught, hot-smoked salmon glazed with maple syrup"

"Located on Carrall Street, it straddles the borders of both Gastown and Chinatown. It was established in 1986 and is…”more"
